John T. Schwieters
John T. Schwieters is a Vice Chairman of Perseus. Prior to joining Perseus, Mr. Schwieters was the Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen's Mid-Atlantic region and was a member of Arthur Andersen's US leadership team. Mr. Schwieters became a partner at Arthur Andersen in 1974 and was head of its tax practice from 1974 to 1989. In 1989 he became Office Managing Partner. Mr. Schwieters served as Advisory Partner on many of Arthur Andersen's Washington area clients including Snyder Communications, Inc., Danaher Corporation, Choice Hotels Inc., Clark Enterprises, Riggs National Corporation, Sallie Mae, American Association of Retired Persons, National Automobile Dealers Association, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Mr. Schwieters is a member of the Board of Directors of Manor Care, Inc., and is advisor to the Board of Smithfield Foods, Inc. He has also served as: President, Washington Ballet; Chairman, Greater Washington Board of Trade; Vice Chairman, Greater Washington Research Center; Executive Committee, Federal City Council; Chairman of Development Campaign, Samaritan Inns; Board of Trustees, Trinity College; Board of Directors; United Way of the National Capital Area; Treasurer, Community Foundation of the National Capital Region; Treasurer, 2012 Coalition; Advisory Board, George Washington University Law School.
Mr. Schwieters holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and an L.L.B. from George Washington University.
