John Spencer "is professor emeritus of African history at Middlebury College, where he serves as a trustee. He has served as a program officer in the Africa/Middle East department of the Ford Foundation, a Peace Corps program evaluator in Senegal, and a lecturer at the New School University. Past trusteeships include the Africa-America Institute, the African Medical Research Foundation, Atlanta University, the University of Cape Town Fund, and the Vermont Academy of Arts and Sciences. John is a former U.S. Marine Corps infantry platoon leader and a former trustee of the JDR3rd Foundation. The author of two books on Africa, he was an ICWA fellow in East Africa, 1962-1964.“ [1]
