Biography
John P. Rupp worked for the tobacco industry law firm of Covington & Burling and managed the industry's scientific and regulatory response to secondhand smoke worldwide, including the International Environmental Tobacco Smoke Consultants Project, also known as the Whitecoat Project. Rupp was responsible for coordinating the selection and use of scientists to refute the environmental tobacco smoke issue.(PMI's Introduction to Privilege Log and Glossary of Names, Estate of Burl Butler v. Tobacco Companies Personnel List) Rupp was an attendee at Philip Morris' Operation Downunder Conference held in Hilton Head, North Carolina in June, 1987.
