John Francis Xavier O'Brien "former chief executive of Alliance Resources plc, a gas and oil exploration company listed on the London Stock Exchange, was convicted on 20 December 1999 of two counts of forgery and two counts of false accounting. The case revolved around the raising of over £7 million on the London Stock Exchange in order to develop a gas field in Louisiana, USA," the U.K. Serious Fraud Office stated.
