Joe Docherty

In June 2013 Joe became the CEO of national colleges, training and education group NCG. Prior to that Mr Docherty was Deputy Chief Executive of housing and care provider Home Group. He will succeed current CEO Dame Jackie Fisher, who retires this summer, having led NCG since 2000 and grown the company from a single FE college to a national provider working with 95,000 learners and 20,000 companies annually. Previously he headed up Tees Valley Regeneration, the government backed economic development body which led a £500m inward investment and development programme in the region. Harvard-educated Joe is also a Trustee and Council Member of the University of Durham, a Trustee of the Esme Fairburn Foundation - a charity which supports education, arts, environment and social change - and a Trustee of the Arts Council England, chairing their Area Council for the North. Prior to that he was Chief Executive of Tees Valley Regeneration from 2002-2009, the largest Urban Regeneration Company in the UK. Before moving to Tees Valley Regeneration Joe was a Director in the Corporate Banking division within Barclays Bank. [1]
