Biographical Information

"Mr. James Harry Sutcliffe, Jim, BSc, FIA serves as a Senior Advisor of CVC Capital Partners Ltd. Mr. Sutcliffe served as the Chief Executive officer of Life Businesses at Old Mutual PLC since January 2000. In this position, he was responsible for all of the life businesses, building on the track record of its primary business in South Africa and developing its interests around the world. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (South Africa) Limited from February 2000 to September 2008. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual PLC from November 2001 to September 2008. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Prudential UK Services Limited. Mr. Sutcliffe is an actuary, served as Chief Executive of Prudential UK from 1994 to 1997, where he was responsible for all of the retail and corporate pensions activities. He led the creation of Prudential UK's banking arm opened in October 1996 and oversaw the acquisition of Scottish Amicable a year later.

"Prior to joining Prudential UK, he served as Deputy Managing Director of the Prudential Home Service Division from January 1992 to 1994. Mr. Sutcliffe served as Managing Director of Prudential Home Services Division from 1994 to 1995. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Jackson National Life in Michigan, USA from 1989 to 1992. He was responsible for directing and managing the operations of Jackson National Life in Michigan, USA, including term and whole life products and qualified and non-qualified fixed annuity products. Mr. Sutcliffe served as Chief Operating Officer of Jackson National, Prudential's US subsidiary. He has been Chairman of FxPro Financial Services Ltd., since June 2010. He has been Chairman of the Board for Actuarial Standards at Financial Reporting Council Ltd. since June 15, 2009. He served as Chairman of the Board of Skandia Insurance Company Ltd., since February 21, 2006. He served as Chairman of Forsakringsaktiebolaget Skandia (publ). Before joining Old Mutual, Mr. Sutcliffe served as Deputy Chairman of Capital Shopping Centres Group PLC (known as Liberty International PLC ) London from 1997 to 1999 and also served as its Director. Mr. Sutcliffe has been the Chairman of Sun Life Financial Inc. and Sun Life Assurance since December 1, 2011 and Financial Reporting Council Ltd. since June 15, 2009. He has been a Director of Sun Life Financial Inc. since February 10, 2009 and Liberty Group Limited since September 14, 2009. He has been a Director of Liberty Holdings Ltd. since September 2009. He serves as Member of Global Financial Institutions Advisory Board at CVC Capital Partners Ltd. He has been a Senior Independent Director of Lonmin plc since January 2012 and as its Non-Executive Director since August 10, 2007. Mr. Sutcliffe serves as a Non-Executive Director of Nedcor Limited. He serves as Director of The Nelson Mandela Legacy Trust (UK), , Fidelity and Guarantee Life Insurance Company and OM Kotak Mahindra Insurance Company Limited. He has been Director of Skandia Insurance Company Ltd since February 21, 2006. He serves as Non Executive Director of Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada (U.S.). He is a Trustee of Buffelshoek Trust. He served as an Executive Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (South Africa) Limited from February 2000 to September 9, 2008. He served a Non Executive Director of Nedbank Group Ltd. and Nedbank Ltd. from December 10, 2001 to September 9, 2008. He served as an Executive Director of Old Mutual PLC from January 24, 2000 to September 2008. He served as Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. and Kotak Mahindra Old Mutual Life Insurance Ltd. Mr. Sutcliffe is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and educated at Westville Boys High School. He studied BSc from University of Cape Town." [1]
