He has a unique focus in Gestalt known as Gestalt Awareness Practice (GAP), a union of Gestalt and Vipassana originated by Dick and Christine Price of Esalen, and also taught by John Madatian M.A. and Beth O'Connor Ph.D. Jim interned with Lu Grey MFT for the entirety of his internship, co-led Advanced Gestalt Trainings with Gieve Patel from 2008 – 2011, and has been in ongoing GAP training with John Madatian, M.A. and Beth O’Connor, Ph.D. since 1994. He is especially interested in the gestalt process of increasing awareness and developing self-support & self-responsibility and how these processes organically support movement toward greater aliveness, differentiation & individuation, authenticity, integrity and wholeness. He is trained in and practices the integration of body, mind, heart and spirit through the gestalt modality. He is also passionate about psychotherapy with couples, especially in addressing issues of attachment, differentiation, intimacy, & sexuality, with a special focus on the integration of differentiation, attachment, and neurobiology. He currently and actively pursues study in these areas as well as in gestalt psychotherapy and Gestalt Awareness Practice."
