"Jim Brooks is Control Risks’ Chief Operating Officer with global responsibility for the strategy and operations of the firm’s consulting, services and technology businesses. He is a member of Control Risks’ Executive Committee and has been an Executive Director of the Board since 2012. Jim joined Control Risks in 2001 and previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Control Risks’ Americas region with responsibility for the strategic growth and development of the firm’s business across the Americas.

"Before joining Control Risks, Jim worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as a Clandestine Service Officer, supporting human intelligence and paramilitary operations worldwide. He has covered a broad spectrum of intelligence issues including international economic movements, foreign political parties, proliferation of unconventional weapons, narcotics trafficking, organised crime and international terrorist activity.

"Jim served in the United States Navy as a Navy SEAL and has acted as an advisor to the security services of other nations, including El Salvador, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela and Paraguay.

"Jim earned a B.A. in International Relations and Latin American Economic Development from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and has completed graduate coursework at UCLA and Executive Education at Harvard Business School. Jim is a certified conflict mediator." [1]
