Biography
"In May 2010 Jenny Chapman was elected to represent Darlington as its Member of Parliament (Labour Party).
"Jenny has lived in Darlington from a young age, being educated at local schools and the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. She was elected as Councillor for Cockerton West Ward in 2003, serving as Chair of Darlington's Children's Trust and Lead Member for Children's Services at Darlington Borough Council until her election as Labour MP for the town in 2010.
"Jenny has been a governor at four schools and colleges in Darlington and has volunteered at a number of charities and community groups in the town including Darlington Children's Trust and Newblood Live, a youth music charity.
"Since being elected Jenny has campaigned on many important issues including pay-day loan companies, and recently lobbied to secure 450 civil service jobs in Darlington. In October 2012 she was made Shadow Prisons and Probation Minister, and serves as Secretary for the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Victims and Witnesses of Crime." [1]
