Jane Furniss "has a strong interest in aid and development issues, international relations and the Asian region.
"Jane's work as a corporate lawyer at Mallesons Stephen Jaques has also allowed her to strengthen her interest in and knowledge of development issues as she has worked extensively in the Lao PDR in a team advising the Lao Government on the environmental and social aspects of its major energy project and in drafting the decree to set up the Watershed Management and Protection Authority to deal with the project's ongoing social and environmental issues.
"Jane has degrees in Chinese language and law from Sydney University and a Masters of Development Studies from Deakin University. She is on the board of TEAR Australia, an interdenominational aid and development organisation. She also has an interest in human rights and international humanitarian law." [1]
