James R. Huntley, Vice President of the Council for a Community of Democracies.

"Mr. Huntley is a writer and lecturer on foreign affairs and author of Pax Democratica: A Strategy for the 21st Century. He is a former president of the Atlantic Council of the US, Fellow of the Battelle Memorial Institute and executive of the Ford Foundation. Earlier in his professional life he served in the Foreign Service of the United States. Mr. Huntley has been a co-founder of many NGOs including the Atlantic Institute of Paris, and the Standing Conference of Atlantic Organizations."

"Jim Huntley, a retired U.S. diplomat, is a native of Washington State. A specialist in world politics and economics, he concentrates on the highly developed industrial democracies of North America, Europe, and East Asia. He was a founder of the Atlantic Institute of International Affairs in Paris and served as a program executive at the Ford Foundation. For ten years he was a Fellow of the Battelle Memorial Institute in Seattle and its chief adviser on international affairs. He was also President of the Atlantic Council of the United States. He is a founder and current vice president of the Council for a Community of Democracies.

"His published works include Europe and America: the Next Ten Years (1970), Uniting the Democracies (1980), and Pax Democratica (1998). His latest book, An Architect of Democracy: Building a Mosaic of Peace, was published this year. For over 40 years, he has authored numerous articles for US and European publications on these subjects. Mr. Huntley holds a M.A. in International Relations from Harvard University." (also see)
