James J. O'Donnell "is Provost at Georgetown University. He was educated at Princeton (1972 A.B., Latin Salutatorian), University College, Dublin (1972-73), and Yale (1975 Ph.D.). He has published widely on the cultural history of the late antique Mediterranean world and is a recognized innovator in the application of networked information technology in higher education." [1]
He is a director of the American Council of Learned Societies.
