Dr. James Ewing was a past president of American Association for Cancer Research who wrote a book on cancer in the 1940's called "Neoplastic Disease." Dr. Ewing, a pathologist, in the late 1920's pleaded with the medical profession not to bury its head in the sand on the acsociation between amoking and cancer.
