Biography

A native of Latvia, Dr. Essenberg immigrated to the United States in 1907 and attended Valparaiso and the University fo Chicago. He taught anatomy at both schools, as well as the University of Missouri, the University of Oklahoma and Loyola University Medical School. In the 1950s, he authored or coauthored several major smoke inhalation studies. Dr. Essenberg died in Burdick, Indiana, on December 7, 1957. (Source: Valparaiso Vidette-Messenger, Dec. 9, 1957)
