The Cornell Institute for African Development (IAD) "coordinates teaching, outreach and professional service activities addressing issues related to food security, human resource development (including refugee assistance), environmental resource management, economic growth, and public policy guidance in Africa." [1]

"The Institute for African Development is an area program under the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, Cornell University. Formerly known as the Cornell Initiative on African Development, the program was initiated in 1987 under the supervision of a former Cornell University Provost Robert Baker." [2]
