Ian Ashken
According to a 2008 article in Financial Week: "Mr. Ashken raked in $9.8 million in total compensation last year, a 330% jump from what he earned in 2006, and the biggest increase for any of the CFOs on this year's list. It's also well above the pay for the CFO at Jarden's largest customer, Wal-Mart, where Thomas Schoewe got $8.5 million. Mr. Ashken's pay comes in just under that of Richard Harshman from Allegheny Technologies ($9.9 million), and just above that of M. Keith Waddell of Robert Half International ($9.6 million)...
"Mr. Ashken, 48, who declined to be interviewed for this story, began his career with Mr. Franklin over 20 years ago. They started their first public company, Benson Eyecare, in 1992. Mr. Ashken became vice chairman and CFO of Alltrista, the Muncie, Ind., maker of Ball jars, in 2001, after Mr. Franklin's bid to buy the company was rejected by the Alltrista board. The company became Jarden in 2002, when Mr. Franklin, by then chairman and CEO, combined “jar” from its core business and “den” to suggest a warm, homey feel." [1]
