High-risk intelligence gatherers are members of government, military, or paramilitary organizations tasked with acquiring intelligence from inaccessable or dangerous locations using HUMINT skills, which places the gatherer directly in peril. Examples of high-risk intelligence gatherers are Eugene Clark of the Korean War, Billy Waugh of Vietnam, the Cold War, and the War on Terrorism, and Delta Force Operator Eric Haney of the Cold War.
