Henry R. Kravis, Founding Partner, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

"Mr. Kravis is founding partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), a private equity firm that pioneered the development of the management buyout. He began his career as vice-president of Katy Industries, where he designed their acquisition program. He then joined Bear Stearns & Co., where he became a partner, and stayed until l976, when he and two partners founded KKR. Mr. Kravis has served on numerous corporate boards, including RJR Nabisco, Safeway, Gillette, Borden and Owens-Illinois. He founded and heads the New York City Investment Fund, designed to create jobs and help small inner city businesses in New York City. He also serves on the Boards of the Partnership for New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Claremont McKenna College, Mount Sinai Hospital, Public Television Channel 13, Columbia Graduate School of Business, and Rockefeller University. He is based in New York, NY." [1]
