Herbert Ratcliffe was a pathologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an industry-funded scientist, investigated lung cancer and cardiovascular disease in zoo animals, especially those maintained in an outdoor environment. He received consultation fees and statement preparation fees from the tobacco industry.[955017826/7831]. He received $15,275 in funding from the industry in 1975 alone.[955038735] He investigated spontaneous occurrnce of lung cancer in zoo animals and received funding from Council for Tobacco Research for these studies.
