Guy H. Kerr
Guy H. Kerr is currently Senior Vice President/Law and Government and Secretary of the Belo Corporation, "a position he assumed in July 2003. Kerr joined Belo as the Company's senior vice president/general counsel and secretary in June 2000. He was formerly a senior partner in the Dallas law firm of Locke Liddell & Sapp. Kerr serves on the Company's Management Committee.
"A Dallas native, Kerr joined Locke, Purnell, Boren, Laney & Neely as an associate in 1978. He became a partner and shareholder of the firm in 1984 and served on its management committee for six years. He also headed the firm's corporate and securities practice group. In his 22 years of private practice, Kerr advised numerous businesses and boards of directors in a variety of industries including media, technology, financial services, manufacturing and energy.
"Active in numerous professional and civic organizations, Kerr is a Fellow of the Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations and a member of the American Bar Association. He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of The Media Institute. He has served as a trustee for the Highland Park Independent School District, and on the board of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.
"Kerr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting from Washington & Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1975. In 1978, he earned a J.D. from Southern Methodist University, where he served as an editor of the law review and was named to the Order of the Coif." [1]
