Gulf War II is one of the names being applied to the 2003 assault by the coalition of the willing (alternatively viewed as the U.S. invasion) against Saddam Hussein's Iraqi regime.
Former CIA Director R. James Woolsey, Jr. has referred to the campaign as World War IV[1]. Thomas L. Friedman, writing for The New York Times, has pointed out that this is the first Arab-American war.[2]
