The Government Communications Unit (GCU) is a section within the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The GCU was established in October 1998.
The GCU "provides advice and support on communications issues to the Australian Government and to the Ministerial Committee on Government Communications (MCGC). The Unit also manages the Central Advertising System and provides advice about the implementation of Australian Government branding," the GCU states on its website. [1]
