General election

An election involving most or all constituencies in a state (or nation) in choosing candidates for office and voting on ballot measures. In Oregon, the general election is held on the first Tuesday following a Monday in November. An allocated day when most citizens over 18 can vote for the politicians they want to run the country - usually held every 4 or 5 years. The government is allowed to decide when it will be. The election that follows political parties' selection of their nominees (via caucus, convention, or primary election). an election usually held at regular intervals in which candidates are elected in all or most constituencies of a nation or state a national or state election; candidates are chosen in all constituencies
