Background
In August 2006, the St Petersburg Times reported that Caloroso had been appointed by the firm and that he had previously been an "account supervisor and media relations manager at Porter Novelli, Los Angeles."[3] While at Porter Novelli Caloroso worked, at least in part, on the McDonald's account.[4]
A biographical note states that at Porter Novelli he "provided counsel to large consumer brands such as Cirque du Soleil, Krispy Kreme, Merck, McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California, Nextel, Oral-B, Plantronics, Procter & Gamble and The Muppets Holding Company as well as a variety of non-profit organizations such as the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California." It also states that before joining Porter Novelli he "worked for more than four years at the Dolphin Group, a public relations firm based in Los Angeles" and that prior to that he worked for "six years in the entertainment industry for Symphony Pictures, a film and television production company specializing in the development and production of feature films, made-for-television movies and daytime specials."[2]
In the 1990s, Caloroso acted as spokesman for the Strawberry Workers and Farmers Alliance, an anti-union front group for strawberry growers created by the Dolphin Group.[5][6][7][8]
