Erlin Ibreck "is the Director of Grantmaking Strategies at the Open Society Institute where she has worked since 1996. Before being promoted to this position in 2005 she was the Director of Youth Initiatives for 8 years overseeing a portfolio that included the national Urban Debate Program, the Youth Media Program and a New York City focused school reform initiative. In her current position she assists and advises staff in U.S. Programs on grant-making questions, develops special projects and initiatives as needed and ensures they are efficiently managed.

"Prior to OSI, she was a program officer at the Aaron Diamond Foundation in New York City working on early childhood and youth development programming. Other positions have included an appointment in the Mayor’s Office under Mayor Koch as deputy coordinator of the Office of Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Services, and deputy executive director at the East Harlem Block Schools. She has also worked extensively in the United Kingdom in the criminal and family courts as a court appointed social worker and guardian-ad-litem.

"Erlin was born and raised in East Africa. She attended Bristol University in the U.K. and came to New York City to attend graduate school at Columbia University’s School of Social Work." [1]
