Eric Bjornlund
Eric Bjornlund "is a lawyer who has designed and directed democracy and governance programs in more than 25 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He is a co-founder and principal of Democracy International, a firm that designs, evaluates and provides technical assistance for democracy and governance programs worldwide. Mr. Bjornlund worked for more than a decade for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in various senior positions in Washington and overseas, including as Senior Associate and Asia Director, Country Director in Indonesia and Palestine (West Bank and Gaza), Director of Program Coordination & General Counsel, and Senior Program Officer. He has also served as Field Office Director in Indonesia for the Carter Center and has been a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
"He is author of Beyond Free and Fair: Monitoring Elections and Building Democracy (Washington and Baltimore: Wilson Center Press and Johns Hopkins University Press, 2004). Mr. Bjornlund holds a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Williams College, a Master of Public Administration from the John F.
