"A native of Israel, Dr. Adashi received his medical degree in 1973 from the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University.

"Dr. Adashi has focused his career on his strong interest in reproductive biology - he trained as a resident at the New England Medical Center of Tufts University, took fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and subsequent postdoctoral training in reproductive biology at Johns Hopkins and UCSD.

"Dr. Adashi became a faculty member in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Maryland, where he was a professor in those specialties as well as in Physiology. Over 15 years he also served as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and as Director of the Fellowship Training Program in Reproductive Endocrinology. In 1996 Dr. Adashi moved to the University of Utah Health Sciences Center as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. While there, he was the inaugural holder of the John A. Dixon Endowed Presidential Chair. During his tenure, the department–comprised of 40 full-time and 60 adjunct faculty–rose in the national academic rankings from 32nd to as high as fifth, as measured by research support from the National Institutes of Health.

"In 2004, Dr. Adashi assumed the position of Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences as the Frank L. Day Professor of Biology at Brown University's Albert Medical School. As Dean, Dr. Adashi oversees programs which are home to over 200 (campus-based) scientists, in excess of 600 hospital-based physicians, 7 affiliated teaching hospital partners from 3+ distinct health care systems, and 500 campus-based staffers. The Division of Biology and Medicine is entrusted with the educational experience of approximately 250 undergraduate concentrators in Biology, Neuroscience and Community Health, in excess of 600 graduate and postdoctoral students in the life and public health sciences, close to 400 medical students, and a complement of 700 residents and fellows-in-training. Highlights of Dr. Adashi's Brown tenure have included a rise of 12 rungs in the U.S. News & World Report rankings over the last four years; Brown's Medical School now outranks 75% of all U.S. medical schools.

"Dr. Adashi has been involved in the practice of medicine as a faculty member since 1981.
