"The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) was founded in 1985 as one of the oldest and premier non-governmental organization (NGO) and its headquarter in Cairo." [1]

In 1994 received NED grant for $45,000

  • In 1995 they received a $15,000 from Rights & Democracy: "The EOHR, one of the most credible fact-finding groups in Egypt, monitors and investigates human rights abuses. The Women's Committee of the EOHR is mounting a national campaign to outlaw female genital mutilation and increase public awareness of the abuse of women's rights in this country."   • In 1996 they received $40,000 and a further $24,089 and $40,000 from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) for "Elections Human Rights": "The National Democratic Institute received Endowment funds on behalf of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights to carry out a domestic monitoring effort for the upcoming 1996 elections along with several other Egyptian nongovernmental organizations which have formed the Independent Commission for Election Review."
  • In 1998 a grant for $40,000 from the NED: "The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) received renewed Endowment support to publish an annual report on all EOHR activities in the last year and issue a bi-monthly newsletter, "Huqooq Al-Insan." EOHR will also organize four forums for NGOs, human rights activists, legal experts and intellectuals to discuss and tackle critical issues relevant to human rights and democracy in Egypt."
  • In 1999 a grant for $40,000 from the NED
  • In 2000 a grant for $137,333 from the NED (via the NDI)
  • In 2001 a grant for $28,000 from the NED
  • In 2002 a grant for $30,000 from the NED
  • In 2003 a grant for $40,000 from the NED: "The organization will also organize a bi-monthly forum with grassroots activists and its annual Intellectual Forum conference; publish a newsletter; and hold a training camp to instruct new members and staff."
  • In 2005 a grant for $40,000 from the NED
