Edward D. Staples, M.D. is a thoracic surgeon at the University of Florida, and is an anti-tobacco expert who has testified for the plaintiff in tobacco cases.
Biography
Dr. Staples is a Professor of Surgery at Shands Teaching Hospital and Chief of Thoracic and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the VA Hospital. Dr. Staples received his MD from the University of South Florida College of Medicine (1977). He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgical Critical Care. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Surgery Division of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery; Chief, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgical Service of Veterans Administration Medical Center; Surgical Director, Cardiac Transplant Program; Artificial Heart Program; and Lung Transplantation Program.
