Diethyl phthalate (DEP) is one of a group of chemicals known as phthalates. DEP is used as a solvent in perfumes, colognes, deodorants, soaps, shampoos, and hand lotions.[1] When exposed to DEP, humans excrete mono-ethyl phthalate (MEP) in their urine.[2]
