Debra L. Reed

Debra L. Reed is President and Chief Financial Officer for Sempra Energy Utilities, the "umbrella for Sempra Energy's regulated business units, including Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). Sempra Energy is a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.[1]

"Reed became president of SDG&E in July 2000. In January 2002, she also became president of SoCalGas as part of the integration of Sempra Energy Utilities. Previously, Reed served as president of Energy Distribution Services at SoCalGas, overseeing the company's operations for residential, small-commercial and industrial customers.

"From 1995 to 2000, she served as senior vice president of SoCalGas. From 1984 to 1994, Reed held policy leadership positions with SoCalGas, including vice president of human resources, vice president of administrative services, manager of environmental engineering and manager of personnel relations. In 1983, she served as area market services manager after five years of working in marketing.

"Reed joined SoCalGas in February 1978 as an energy systems engineer and, in 1988, became the first female officer appointed at the company.

"Reed serves on the board of directors for Halliburton Company (since 2001). She also is a board member of the University of Southern California College of Letters, Arts and Sciences; San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation; Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; and Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. Reed presently is a member of The Trusteeship, an affiliate of the International Women's Forum.

"Reed received the 23rd Annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award from the YWCA of San Diego County in May 2002. She was featured as a 'Utility Rising Star' in the September 1999 issue of Utility Business magazine and is a recipient of the League of Women voters Glass Ceiling Award.

Ms. Reed has also served as president of Energy Distribution Services at SoCalGas and has held other leadership positions at SoCalGas. Ms. Reed also serves on the Boards of Directors of Halliburton Company, SDG&E and SoCalGas."
