Darren Walker "is vice president for Education, Creativity and Free Expression at the Ford Foundation, where he guides more than $150 million in annual grantmaking and serves as an officer of the board of trustees. Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, Mr. Walker was vice president of foundation initiatives at the Rockefeller Foundation, where he oversaw the execution of a broad range of programs in the United States and internationally. Prior to joining Rockefeller in 2002, he served as chief operating officer of the Abyssinian Development Corporation, a community organization in Harlem.

"Passionate about advancing equality for disadvantaged communities, his board memberships have included the Association for Neighborhood Housing and Development, Citizens' Committee for Children of New York, National Housing Institute and the National Low-Income Housing Coalition among many others. Mr. Walker is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas School of Law, and attended Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government's Leadership Program." [1]
