Daniel W. Wordsworth

In 2009 "The American Refugee Committee announced that it has appointed a new president to lead the organization. Daniel W. Wordsworth assumed leadership of the American Refugee Committee this week. Wordsworth joins the American Refugee Committee at a time when the organization is responding to the current humanitarian crisis in Pakistan, where 500,000 people have fled their homes in the past week...

"A seasoned leader, Wordsworth brings years of humanitarian experience in the aid field to the American Refugee Committee, including 12 years with the Christian Children's Fund, where he most recently served as Vice President of the Asia Region, based in Thailand. Prior to joining ARC, he led a team engaged in for-profit business start-ups in China.

"A unique life path led Wordsworth to this new position. As a young man, he joined the Navy of his native country of Australia. For two years, he trained to be a pilot. But a call to helping the poor changed his course, and Wordsworth decided to devote his life to helping people escape poverty. For many years, he lived and worked with the urban poor. Over time, he came to the conclusion that what the poor really needed were resources, bold thinking, and innovation. This realization led him to the relief and development field." [1]
