Daniel C. Hallin, Ph.D. in Political Science, University of California, Berkeley (1980).

"Hallin's research concems political communication and the role of the news media in democratic politics. He has written on the media and war, including Vietnam, Central America, and the Gulf War. He has written on television coverage of elections, demonstrating the shrinking "sound bite" and offering an interpretation of its meaning for political journalism. His new research focuses on comparative analysis of the news media's role in the public sphere, concentrating on Europe and Latin America." [1]
