Defending increased student fees
In September 2005 PR Week reported that the Department for Education & Skills had hired CC for £125,000 eight-month long campaign to "raise awareness of the new financial arrangements for students that come into force in 2006". [1]
A director of CC, Paul Davies, told PR Week "Our main task is to educate people about the funding changes which, given their significance, will be under the spotlight for next year's applicants." In 2001 the British Labour Party had pledged not to introduce top-up fees for university students but later reversed its position.
