Conservatives target the Ford Foundation
As one of the largest mainstream foundations in the U.S. and one that funds projects in a broad range of areas, the conservative movement has been increasingly critical of it in an attempt to 'defund the left'.
In October 2003 Foundation Watch, a publication of the conservative Capital Research Center (CRC) featured an article by Martin Morse Wooster claiming that the Ford Foundation has "funded many radical social experiments" and "remains a major donor to liberal causes, especially the defense of racial preference programs". [1]
Wooster's criticism of Ford is milder than for many other foundations, noting that is is "less visibly liberal than some other foundations" but expressed his concern that it still funded proejcts that "believe more government is the answer to every question".
