The Conflict Prevention Pools (CPPs) "were set up in 2001 to enhance the effectiveness of the UK's contribution to conflict prevention and management. They are run jointly by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Department for International Development (DfID).

"There are two Pools. The Africa Conflict Prevention Pool (ACPP) covers Sub-Saharan Africa, while the Global Conflict Prevention Pool (GCPP) covers the rest of the world. To find out more about the Africa Conflict Prevention Pool: Africa Conflict Prevention Pool (PDF, 752K)

"The GCPP's activities cover conflict prevention and management, as well as some post-conflict reconstruction. They bring together diplomacy, defence and development work, in a common strategy based on a conflict analysis shared between FCO, MOD and DFID. However there is also flexibility to respond to changing situations and new priorities.

"The GCPP budget for FY2006/07 and 2007/08 is £74M per year." [1]
