The Commission for Assistance to a Free Cuba was established by President Bush on October 10, 2003 "to explore ways the U.S. can help hasten and ease a democratic transition in Cuba." Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reconvened the Commission for Assistance to a Free Cuba on December 19, 2005, and the Commissin released its second report on July 5, 2006. The U.S. Government's Cuba Transition Coordinator, Caleb C. McCarry, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Commission (in the past he has worked for The Center for Democracy.) [1] [2]
