Colin Power

"Emeritus Professor Colin Power was the founding Chair of Eidos (2005-2006) and its predecessor the Institute for Educational Research Policy and Evaluation (2003-2005). He has held the positions of Deputy Director-General of UNESCO (1999- 2000) and Assistant Director-General for Education (1989 to 1998), the most senior posts ever held in UNESCO by an Australian. He served as President of the Australian Association of Research in Education and Vice-President of the Commonwealth Association of Science, Technology and Mathematics Educators, the International Council of Associations for Science Education, and the South Pacific Association for teacher Education. He led the policy and management of UNESCO’s education programs including: Education for All, International Commission on Education for 21st century (Delors report), World education reports; science education, technical and vocational education, higher education, science, sustainable development, education for a culture of peace, teachers and teaching in the 21st century, International Literacy Year, reconstruction of education systems after conflict, major political changes. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University and Alumnus of the Year 2002. In 1974 he was a Senior Fulbright Scholar. In 1978 he was appointed as Professor of Education at Flinders University of South Australia, Professor Emeritus of that University, Hon. D.Litt, University of Sydney, 2002; the Moscow Medal (1998); and Clarence McNamara Award for excellence of service to Australian education (2000). Foundation Chair, EIDOS (2002-2006)." [1]
