Biographical Information
"Claudia is a leader in national efforts to integrate the power of spiritual practice and the work of social justice. In 1995 she founded stone circles, a nonprofit organization committed to sustaining activists and strengthening the work for justice through spiritual practice and principles. In 2007, the organization created The Stone House, a center for spiritual life and strategic action on 70 acres of land in Mebane, North Carolina. The Stone House welcomes people of all traditions and no tradition for training, retreats, community-building and fellowship. Claudia’s previous work includes developing youth leadership, supporting struggles for economic justice and strengthening nonprofit organizations. The author of numerous articles, her book The Spiritual Activist: Practices to Transform Your Life, Your Work, and Your World (Penguin Compass 2002) is a practical guide to individual and social transformation through spirit and faith. Claudia has a master’s degree in Public Policy from Duke University and was a Rockefeller Foundation Next Generation Leadership Fellow. Trained as a teacher in the Kripalu tradition, Claudia follows a yogic path on and off the mat."[1]
