Charles Goode

Charles Barrington Goode is was Chairman of ANZ Bank (1996-2010), Woodside Petroleum (1999-2007) and the Ian Potter Foundation, and a Director of Singapore Government-owned Singapore Airlines (1999-2006).

He is one of the elite members of the Melbourne Club and has played a key role in the right-wing think tank the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA). During the 1980s he served as IPA President alongside then Director Rod Kemp.

He also has extensive links to the Liberal Party. According to Hansard records, Goode has been "a trustee of the Liberal Party and a director of major fund raising organisations for the Liberal Party". This reference is to the Cormack Foundation.[1]

Goode attended Scotch College in Melbourne and then completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne. He also claims to have a law degree from Monash University. His early career was with the stockbroking firm Potter Partners, and he is chairman of the Ian Potter foundation. He was on the boards of Pacific Dunlop from 1987-99, and the asbestos-miner/sugar company CSR from 1992-2001. He was director-chairman of the ANZ Bank from 1991 - 2010. [1]
