"Charles joined Skarbek having been the COO of a multi-million dollar division of the Chelsea Group, Hart Security Limited. He held full responsibility for its strategy implementation, innovation and improvement. In this global role, he worked alongside a wide array of diverse stakeholders including multi-nationals, government departments and international partners to manage a full range of physical, regulatory and commercial challenges. In a market undergoing considerable flux, M&A activity underpinned his time at Hart. He built and led a delivery-focused and commercially astute team through a period of considerable change and in doing so laid strong foundations for the business going forward.

"Previously, Charles was a senior leader in the East African branch of the FTSE 250 exploration and production company, Afren Plc. He held responsibility for the facilitation of both on and off-shore oil and gas exploration across four countries. The contractual, financial and practical delivery of these complex and costly projects required the management of relationships from the highest levels of government to the local herdsmen and fisherman – it also needed planning, energy and team work of the highest standards to see them delivered safely, on time and within budget.

"In a military career spanning 18 years he conducted multiple tours of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland as well as undertaking operations in the Balkans and other undisclosed geographies. In Afghanistan in 2009 when their Commander was tragically killed in action, Charles took command of the Welsh Guards Battle Group which was made up of over 1300 diverse personnel from a variety of units and countries. As an SAS officer for much of his career he worked to the highest strategic levels in multi-agency and multi-national operations both in combat and advisory roles. These experiences offered an uncommon level of exposure to political and diplomatic issues, leadership challenges and the delivery of operations where resources, time and security were limited. In 2006 he was awarded the DSO for his combat leadership in Iraq.

"Charles graduated from Exeter University with a BA (Hons) in English and Drama. He also has an MA from King’s College London in Defence Studies and a diploma from LAMDA."[1]
