The Centre for International Economics (Aust) says that it is a private economic research agency that provides professional, independent analysis of international and domestic events and policies. It is essentially a firm of economic modellers and consultants for hire.

The name suggests yet another think-tank since there are many other Centers/Centres for Independent Economics/Studies around the world, but currently there is no indication of any connection between them.

The Australian CIE claims to have three decades of experience as a boutique economic consultancy in key areas of: Transport, Health, Agriculture, Water, Environment (Climate). Their claims of specialisation appears to be confined to virtually everything: infrastructure, trade, R&D, and infrastructure for government, industry associations and private clients. It emphasises international trade and investment, and says that they have worked in over 40 developing countries, and created economic models for analysis and forecasting in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and South Asia.
