Centocor
Centocor is a pharmaceutical and biotechnology subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. It manufactures the biotech drug Remicade, a monoclonal antibody for autoimmune conditions. The company also makes the oncology drugs Doxil and Leustatin as well as the immunosuppressant Orthoclone for organ transplantation. [1] Centocor was founded in 1979 and focused initially on the development of diagnostic assays using monoclonal antibody technology. In subsequent years, the company expanded into drug development. In 1999, Johnson & Johnson acquired Centocor.
J&J established Ortho Biotech in 1990, making it the first biotechnology subsidiary of a major healthcare company. The company focused on cancer, anemia, and rejection of transplanted organs, among other conditions. Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc. was created in 2008 by the merger of Centocor, Inc. and Ortho Biotech Inc. [2]

In February 2007, O'Dwyer's PR Daily reported that J&J's biopharmaceutical unit, Centocor had "developed a documentary film to serve as the centerpiece of a national campaign and an alternative to the 30-second spot." The film, called "Innerstate", follows "three patients living with chronic diseases like Crohn's disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis"; all ailments for which Centocor markets treatments. The company's drugs aren't mentioned in the movie, however. [3]
