Biographical Information

"Carolyn Jacobs, MSW, PhD, is the Dean of Smith College School for Social Work and Elizabeth Marting Treuhaft Professor. Dr. Jacobs has had a long and distinguished history with the Smith College School for Social Work. She originally joined the School as a member of the faculty primarily teaching within the research and practice sequences of the School for Social Work. Her areas of professional interest include religion and spirituality in social work practice, social work research, and organizational behavior. Seven years ago she was invited to become the School's Dean; hallmarks of her leadership have included not only an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, but also to increased student access, pedagogical diversity, and to developing clinicians trained to respond to the mental health needs of returning soldiers. Dean Jacobs has also invited numerous presenters to Smith on related topics and forged relationships between the School and VA centers across the country."[1]
