Carol Ann Smith "is the Director for Contracts at Population Services International. Previously, Carol was the Director of Contracts and Grants at Family Health International (FHI), supporting HIV/AIDS work under 200+ awards in more than 30 countries. All of Carol’s nonprofit experience has been with organizations that work through local offices and organizations to carry out development programs--which leverages the financial and compliance aspects of award requirements to support capacity-building overseas. In addition to her work at FHI, Carol has held positions in operations and contract management at ACDI/VOCA, The Nature Conservancy, and the National Endowment for Democracy. Carol started her twenty-five year career with the Inter-American Foundation, a USG corporation that makes grants to grassroots organizations in Latin America, followed by two years with the Appalachian Regional Commission where she learned about working with community-based organizations in support of the rural poor in the US.
