Carlo Salteri

"Born in Italy in 1920, Mr Carlo Salteri gained a Mechanical Engineering degree in Milan and came to Australia in 1951. One of the founding shareholders of the Transfield Group, he was its Joint Managing Director to 1989 and Joint Chairman until the formation of the Tenix Group in 1997.

"Mr Salteri has been a director since 1961. He was Chairman of Tenix Pty Ltd from 1997 to 2007, when he resigned from the position of Chairman and became a non-executive director of the company." [1]

"Italian immigrant cofounded Transfield Group 1956. Took over defense operations, renamed Tenix, in 1997 when company split. Stepped down as chairman 2007; replaced by son Paul. In past 18 months group sold main defense subsidiary to Britain's bae Systems, radar and logistics division to Lockheed Martin, aviation arm to Air New Zealand. Shares fortune with his children."
