Burton J. Lee

Dr. Burton Lee "was President George H. W. Bush’s personal physician during his term of office. He later served as the medical director of Oncology Programs at the Greenville Hospital System Cancer Treatment Center in South Carolina. A graduate of Yale and of Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, he served on President Ronald Reagan’s AIDS Commission and was Physician to the President during the Presidency of George H.W. Bush. IN this capacity he directed the White House Medical System. Dr. Lee stared his career as an attending physician on the Lymphoma Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and remained there for 29 years. The protocols that he devised for treating Hodgkin’s disease and multiple myeloma are standard therapy throughout the world. Dr. Lee has been elected a Commissioner of Health in Indian River County, Florida, where he also helps to take care of indigent patients. He chairs the Cancer Committee for the Columbia-Presbyterian Health Sciences Advisory Council." [1]
