The Hubert Burda Center for Innovative Communications "was established at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in 1999, under the sponsorship of Hubert Burda Media of Germany." [1]
"Currently, the major two research projects undertaken concern: [2]
- The influence of blogs on surfers opinion on the Other/Enemy
- How does news become news?
The first of these projects concerns the Good Neighbors blog, they write:
- "This Good Neighbors website is designed to increase dialogue and understanding between Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Egyptians and Syrians on a cross-country level, as well as to increase understanding, respect and dialogue among the various strata of society within the specified countries. Currently, 17 well-known, respected, and influential bloggers from the above-listed countries have signed on to take part in the project and more will be recruited. Each currently has a wide-readership of 2,000 to an average of 30,000 readers per day. For example, one of the bloggers is the one who exposed the story of the Danish cartoons regarding Muhammed. After the first year of initiation, the researchers will conduct an audience reception study of the users of the website." [3]
Phe principal investigators on this project are Yael Kaynan and Nibal M.K. Thawabteh.
