An accomplished executive and general counsel with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, government, and law practice, Bruce joined our executive team of Pathfinder International "in June 2017. He is based in Washington, DC.

"A former executive vice president and general counsel at the global pharmaceutical company Merck, Bruce oversaw the legal department, global public policy, corporate responsibility, global communications, and security. He was instrumental in the development and launch of the Merck for Mothers global initiative.

"As a senior advisor at the US Food and Drug Administration, Bruce served as liaison to the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the White House Domestic Policy Council, and oversaw the team working on President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative.

"Bruce began his law career as clerk to Judge Levin Campbell at the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston, Massachusetts, later moving to the US Department of Justice as Assistant to the Solicitor General. He spent over a decade as a partner at Covington & Burling, where he chaired the food and drug and healthcare practice groups, and subsequently became senior vice president and general counsel to the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

"Bruce currently serves on the board of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. He received his BA in economics from Harvard College and his JD from Harvard Law School." [1]
